Racial Harmony Day

So on the 21st July, our company celebrated Racial Harmony Day.

A brief history about Racial Harmony Day:

The event is to commemorate the 1964 Race Riots, which took place on 21 July 1964.
Racial Harmony Day also represents a day for schools to reflect on, and celebrate Singapore's success as a racially harmonious nation and society built on a rich diversity of culture and heritage. In schools all across the nation on that day, students are encouraged to be dressed in their traditional costumes such as the Cheongsam, the Baju Kurung and Punjabi suit. [extracted from Wikipedia]
Staff were required to wear traditional costumes and I'm we were all spontaneous enough!
And it was honestly pretty fun because I never had the chance to wear other races' costumes.

Daily makeup

In an attempt to achieve good skin, I decided to stop using make-up since last year.
Previously, I was using Chanel Matte Lumiere foundation and somehow, no matter how thorough I remove my makeup, I would end up getting little bumps on the sides of my cheeks. Hence with much deliberation & also courage to face the world with my bare naked face, I stopped using make up. It was a really tough decision since I've been using make up since I was 17years old, and also my job requires me to meet people regularly. However all in the name of good skin, I took the plunge! (but sad to say, the skin condition didn't change for the better even without applying makeup, damn!)

Anyhows, I was once again inspired to put on make up after realizing that I look really haggard without make up on. And I really love to try on new make up products, so my heart itched for me to return back to this love.

During my trip to Hong Kong this year ( the land of cheaper makeups), I chanced upon ettusais again. When I first started out using make up, my first foundation was from ettusais because it was suitable for acne-prone skin and it had really good coverage! I ended up using it for a couple of years until I became older (and richer, hehe) and changed my foundation to Chanel.

Anyways back to my story, during the trip I chanced upon ettusais and was really tempted to get their bb cream. Have been wanting to try bb creams but because I am not a fan of liquid foundations, for the irrational fear that it will clog up every single pores I have, I had stayed away from bb cream ever since the rave about bb creams started.

However, I decided to just go for it, because I recalled how good ettusais's products were for acne-prone skin & the other push factor was because it was cheaper than in SG!
Since it was my birthday month, I decided to 'force' a good friend of mine to get it for me & to my surprise she kindly obliged! Many loves to her!

So, cut the long story short, I bagged the ettusais's BB mineral white SPF 45, colour 30 and have not regretted since. I love it, love it, love it! The only grouch was why hadn't I tried it earlier!

The bb cream feels so light on the skin, you can barely feel anything! It doesn't feel sticky nor oily! And you will just need a bit to apply to the whole face! It is only retailing for approx $30? And I guess I would be able to use this whole tube for a really really long time!

Another reason why I like this bb cream is that the coverage is very good! I could also do without applying the mineral powder and my skin will look like its glowing! Totally nothing that I disliked about this bb cream!

After the bb cream, I would then use Laura Mercier's Secret Concealer in Shade 02 on my dark circles and around the eye area. This concealer was introduced by a friend and I really liked it, because it does not crease after a day of work.

Usually after applying the bb cream, for a matt look, I will apply a layer of mineral powder over to set the bb cream. The mineral powder that I'm using is coincidentally from ettusais as well! The mineral powder is BB mineral powder, color 30. I bought this when I was in Taiwan last year, and I can never finish using it! I hope it hasn't expired yet! *prays hard* but I guess not, otherwise my face would have rot by now.

What I love most about my bb cream + mineral powder is that even after a long day at work, even after the make up has oxidized, my skin still looks pretty fair and  doesn't look grey or black like other foundations. And the best part? I have not gotten any little tiny bumps since I started using these 2 products! So I can vouch that it's definitely non-comodogenic and its really affordable!! Doesn't have to burn a hole in your pocket in your quest for beauty!

After the base, I would apply some blusher on the cheeks of my face. And guess what, my blusher is also from ettusais as well. I'm definitely not advertising for ettusais but I really love their products and I've been returning to their counters to get different make up products, so that just goes to show how much I love and trust their products.

I love this blusher because it is so adorable and so easy to bring it around. The sponge to dab the blusher on can also be changed, just get it from ettusais counter. I am using the color PK2.

On the eye, I'm using Dollywink's liquid eyeliner and Heroine Make's Long & Curl mascara. Both that I bought from Hong Kong. Initially I had just wanted to try the Dollywink's eyeliner and now I'm addicted to it! It's so sharp and so easy to draw on the eyes. I heard from a friend that Singapore has stopped importing the Dollywink's eyeliner and I hope it's not true!

Anyway, that's the end of my daily make-up & I'm readdddddy to go watch my Phantom of the Opera.

Weekend feasting

Last weekend, I was dragged out of the home to go to town with the boyf. I was really tired already as it was already 6pm by the time he was done with his tuition. But the boyfriend was really insistent that he wanted to bring me out for a date (and also to buy his Marcella shirt at Cathay). I decided to be a nice girlfriend and agreed to go on the date with him :)

The date started out bad because I was grouchy that I had to go out at 6pm to town (we don't live very near town) and I couldn't decide on what to eat for dinner.  But the boyf said that it was not the food that mattered but the companion, and that sort of make me cheer up a bit.

We ( I mean I.) finally decided to dine at Jones the Grocer at Ion since there were no queues.

I ordered the Fish of the day which was barramundi and he ordered some steak which was really really worth it, because the steak came with another whole chunk of meat which the boyf couldn't figure out what it was. It was either mutton or pork. The boyf totally enjoyed his steak+unknown meat while I didn't enjoy mine cos the fishy smell was just too strong.

After dinner, we walked around town, went to PS to find his shirts but he didn't like the shirts that were off the shelves, and was kinda disappointed.

After walking around sometime, the boyf decided to be weird again and he requested to eat desserts. We walked around PS some more to find the desserts that he wanted to eat and we eventually settled for Modern Mexican at PS.

I told the boyfr, if we hadn't discuss about when we were getting married, I would have thought that he was going to propose to me on that night because he was acting all weird the entire night.
First, he was so insistent on going down town, which isn't his normal self. Second, he wanted to eat desserts after dinner, which again wasn't his normal self. Third, he didn't want to go back early so we had to walk around PS some more, which is still not his normal self. HAHA.

But anyways, back to Modern Mexican, by the time we settled on the venue for our desserts, I was a little bit hungry and thus decided to order the grilled chicken quesadillas, while the boyf ordered the brownie and ice-cream. The brownie and ice-cream was so-so but the grilled chicken quesadillas was quite nice, tasted like pizza.

And there, we ended the night off with a couple-pic of us taken at the restaurant.

Still trying to perfect the heart but it is really difficult to draw symmetrical heart-shape using free hands.

Nails of the week

This was my Nail-of-the-week last week. This set of manicure was requested by the boyf and since I have not
done a manicure myself for the longest time, I decided to challenge myself.

The outcome was not fantastic but I think it was really pleasant to look at. Recieved many compliments for this set of manicure.

Cafes & Restaurants that I want to go to!

1. Kombi Rocks

What drew my attention to this cafe was actually because there were an increasing number of couples renting their Kombi vans from the owners to have their wedding photoshoots taken! And I thought it was a really interesting and novel idea. (psst. the rental does not come cheap)

Kombi Rocks serves traditional Chinese food likes noodles and rice, and they even have simple Cze Char dishes.

2. Bliss House

Bliss house is a theme restaurant located at Clarke Quay. I really want to go there because the interior is so beautiful (from pictures that I have seen online)!! It is like walking into your own fairytale, coupled with carriages and flowers etc. oh man I can't wait to visit this restaurant!

4. Strangers Reunion

I love cafes/restaurants with unique names. And this definitely has got to be a restaurant with an interesting name. A place where strangers reunite. Bullshit!

When a relationship has come to its end, somehow the either parties would lack the courage to initiate breakup and thus they would come up with the lamest, dumbest, most-selfish, brainless breakup lines.

And mine was equally bullshit. And I can't believe that I had actually believed the reason my ex gave me when he initiated a breakup. Worst, I had even blamed myself for it.

His reason for breaking up was because I didn't put in effort to visit his grandparents and parents when he was overseas for training. -_-

I should have given the ex two tight slaps when he said that to me. If he had visited mine when I was overseas, I would have been less angered. But how many times did he visit my parents and grandparents when I was overseas, hmmm... NONE.

Please, if you are considering a break up with your partner, please be honest about the reason for the breakup. Or if you think you can't do the above, at least come up with a more convincing excuse.
