Korea & Taiwan Travelogue Part 1 (11th January-29th January 2014)

Jeju Day 1 Part I

I'm finally down to blogging about my Korea and Taiwan trip! I guess I will probably take a really long time to finish updating about this trip, but but but I will definitely persevere to finish them because I would like to detail down every single happy moments we spent during this very long awaited trip (for me at least!).

It was unfortunate that we had to travel to Korea during the winter time. It was the boyf's work trip hence we are unable to reschedule it. Korea in winter is known to be freezing cold and I was slightly disappointed that it was going to be winter as it would mean that I would not be able to buy cheap but good quality clothes over there.

So this was how full my luggage was even before the trip. Filled to the brim on both sides, with all the thick winter clothings. Major sigh. This would again mean that I cannot shop much due to limited luggage space.

Our first picture in Korea, while we were waiting for a taxi to bring us to our hotel in Jeju. We took an early morning flight but only managed to touch down finally in Jeju at about 8pm plus. And we were dead beat when we finally reached Jeju but the chill definitely woke us up a bit!

In Jeju, we stayed in Good December Hotel which I thought was pretty decent for the price that I had paid. I booked through Agoda, and paid about $50-$60 per night which was really cheap. The hotel was about 5-10 minutes away from the Airport and is located within the city. It was also near many eateries which made it convenient to get dinner.

We got up early the next day, all ready for our Jeju Adventure!!
We made arrangements for a hired taxi to bring us around in Jeju prior to the trip and it cost about $150 per 8hours.

It was definitely worth it on hindsight because out of our 3days in Jeju, we only managed to spot public buses like 3 times? So do make arrangements for taxi when you want to travel around in Jeju, because you can travel in comfort and you can save a lot of time, without having to take public transport to and fro the different tourist destinations.

My #ootd #wiwt for the first day in Jeju! I think I wore another 2 layers under, but it was still very very chilly!

Our first tourist destination was the Mysterious Road. What's so mysterious about this road you may wonder. It looked just like any normal roads.

What was so interesting about this road was that, although it was a downward slope, optical illusion made the road appeared to be an upward slope. Hence a stationary car, when put to neutral would appear to move upwards the slope (when in fact, it was moving down the slope).

Not a really famous tourist destination, just pop by if you have the additional time to spare!

Our next destination was the Teddy Bear Museum.
Entrance fee was 17,000 won for 2 person. I really loved it there, but I reckon it would be more worthwhile if I had a child because the child would definitely love it there!

I will leave you with the pictures of me and the cute teddy bears, cos this post is getting too wordy!

Not forgetting to take a selfie before we left. And I left the musuem, feeling really really light-hearty, cheery and happy!

Next up, our driver Mr Cook brought us to the Jungmun Beach. He told us that the beach is a popular hangout place during the summer time where students would gather to soak in the sun during their holidays!

Pity that we visited this place in the winter.

Really really enjoying every single moment of it.

So that's it for Day 1 Part 1. Still A LOT more of Day 1 coming up!
